Independence Day Ramble
Went to see The Lakehouse with my sister. Really spur-of-the-moment thing; really good movie. I liked it mucho. Especially how it confused the hell out of my sister. Hahaha. Who's the blonde, eh? Ah, but it was a clever movie. Well put together. Hehe. It had it's funny moments, too.
Architecture plays a part in this movie. Found it kinda ironic that I was watching a movie full of little architectural tidbits (if you know what they are, they kinda start jumping out at you) now, when I've sworn off pursuing architecture as a major/career choice. Geez. It'd suck (but totally fit my character) if I decided, after aaall that major-researching, that I wanna go into architecture after all. [bangs head on wall] But, I have not come to that conclusion yet, so yeah. Anyway. Sisters of Polehenge, fans of Sandra Bullock and/or Keanu Reeves, and especially fans of sci-fi-ish time-twisty weirdness...check it out. Izz pritty good.
Earlier today, Italy ownzed Germany 2-0 in the last minutes of overtime. That rocked. Now I'm rooting for Portugal. Nothing against France, really. Izz just that Portugal played very well in their previous games, and I'm curious to see how they'd match up against Italy. Time will tell. Oh, yeah. Completely forgot about daily quotes and all that. So, here ya go.
Mood: Mellow.
Drinking: Some kind of fruity tea that is red, isn't sweet, and tastes really good.
Should be: Sleeping, but history likes to repeat itself, so I'm not.
Quote of the day:
Or week...
Or all-time, actually.
Yes, QUOTE OF ALL-TIME:
"You can't make footprints in the sands of time if you're sitting on your butt. And who wants to make buttprints in the sands of time?"
--Bob Moawad
^ Came across that one when we were on a family trip to, um...somewhere or other. All I really remember from that whole vacation is this quote. And I should live it more. Probably a good many of us should. [pokes all the couch potatoes out there] I hope I got Mr. Bob's surname right coz the scrap of paper I'd scribbled it on has gotten all smudged up. | | 67 leave feedback(s) | rate post | report post | | 12:00 am
Of age and those who age...
Completely random entry. Anais was talking about how old people percieve others to be in her last entry, and (after finally leaving a comment! [proud of myself]) I felt compelled to broach the topic myself. I remember one time when I went to a cafe with my mom & grandma. Grandma started chatting with the lady behind the counter (about grandkids, of all things), and at one point, she asked how old the lady thought I was. The lady looked at me critically and said, "Eighteen." I was 15.
I took a tae kwon do course at the community college over the summer 2 years ago. It was a family thing, so when the instructor called breaks, all the men would gather & talk in one area, the kids would run amock showing off, and all the mommies flocked together, as well. Not fitting into any of these little groups (but not really minding it ^^;; ), I used the break for stretching. But then the ladies invited me to join their group, and right off the bat, they started asking me about what I do for a living, and if I have kids, etc. @xxx@;; It took me a moment to regain my composure, and then they were quiet for a full minute when I said I wasn't even 18 yet. ...And then they started reassuring me that it was a good thing to look older at my age, and so on. (It still bummed me out tho)
New Year's Eve party, 2006. Went against my better judgment. There was a guy taking digicam pictures at the door, and all the pics (along with random shots of peeps partying) were shown in a slideshow throughout the shindig. Due to some lady being overly intent on playing matchmaker to "a friend of hers", I was stuck with some guy who looked to be my father's age for the rest of the night. Or rather, evading him. My friend, who came with, was cracking up over it. She got the younger guys' attention. That episode REALLY bummed me out.
Now, ever since I lightened my hair...people are making ridiculous assumptions about my age that go the other way. Like a new guy at work asking my age, thinking I was joking, and then saying "Shoo', are you serious?! I thought you were, like, 15 or something." Or the salesclerk at a gas station wanting to ID me when redeeming a lotto ticket. ;;;
Whatever. Thassall for now. Nighty nite. | | 8 leave feedback(s) | rate post | report post | | 2:03 am

Mood: Felt like putting 8's in the title bar. No clue what that says about my current state of being.
Listening to: Not-so-new sdtk, called "family getting ready for beddy-bye." Don't really recommend it.
Drinking: H2O. Now why the DK would I share that w/ you?
Quote of the day/night: "It often takes more courage to change one's opinion than to stick to it." -- Georg Christof Lichtenberg (Would agree, except that in my case, it isn't courage. It's simply lack of conviction, rooted in indecisiveness. Tsk. And we're back at point A.)
From the last post:
Pip--Thankies, but that's alright. ^^; Methinks my parents already pounced on this new development as a good b-day gift idea. We shall see... Until then, I guess I'm stuck listening to my sister's music through the wall, or my own via cd player.
Hakkai--Ah, but you, my friend, have at least declared your major. Ergo, even if you know not exactly where you'll be after graduation, you have a pretty good idea of what you'll be doing until then. Right now, that's all I need to know about my own future. I just can't seem to come to an agreement with myself. ......
Anais--Ah, no worries. This is hardly the first, and prolly not the last of my outbursts (not sure I'd go so far as to name it a crisis yet). I also know the value of patience. Thanks for your soothing words of wisdom, though.
Really, guys, I'm so glad I've got such a great group of friends. If I ever DO go off the edge, I know I'll have the best support net there to catch me. I think, I hope that each of us can feel this secure. [throws chocolatey hugs & kisses at'cha] 'Nite, 'nite! ^^ | | 8 leave feedback(s) | rate post | report post | | 7:32 pm
despite the unoriginality of it, i hate mondays
Mood: Irate
Listening to: Jean Michel Jarre--Oxygene
Trying to: Not be so irate. (no progress yet) Quote of the day (read: mini bashing session): "Peace through superior Firepower" (<-motto of the colonial marines. Human beings can be quite moronic. I am reminded of the following quote: "Bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity." So there are people out there who recognize the sheer idiocy of others. Huzzah. Now let us pass this wisdom on to the groups and individuals who require having the inanity of their actions pointed out. I doubt, however and unfortunately, that pointing it out would have major lasting effects.)
Yes, today I am a sceptic. Shtick happens. The sources of my irritation are many. Currently, it is mostly my infamous indecision. That, however, is linked directly to the matter of furthering my education, which in turn ties into my personal and familial budget, which has a great stake the matter of vehicular transportation (or lack thereof), and so on, leading back to my indecision. The people of the Orient deem the circle as a symbol of perfection. If one has but an inkling of philosophical understanding, it's easy to see why. Still, it doesn't change the fact that it's maddening as hell to be stuck in one. Blah. Catch 22. Or was it 21? Whichever it was, I seem to be having a bit of a...thing concerning twenties in any shape or form as my birthday draws nearer. I'm almost two decades old...(it really does look worse when typed out ;;; )...and feel that I haven't accomplished anything worth mentioning in my life. Definitely not a good sign, but it's the truth. No clue what I'm doing, or where I'm going. No, I DO know. I'm chasing my own tail. Too bad that won't get me anywhere.
My radio just made a funky little "fwwshshzzzp~" noise and stopped. The stupid thing is dead. I smell a bit of burnt technology. I won't ask if the day can get worse because it probably still can. I feel like breaking something. Glass, preferrably. Or the stupid radio, but maybe it can still be fixed. Adieu. Oh, just a moment, please...
Listening to: NOTHING! @#>?M><#HND*W@#)(*U#*&)DF#H<:><#)@&*)$#@><
WHY TODAY?! WHY TODAY WHEN I WROTE WHAT THE FLIP I WAS LISTENING TO WHEN I HADN'T DONE SO IN SO LONG?! HUH??? WHAT. IS. THE. DEAL?? ><######
