The Return of Shen @ Work

Updating from work, since I have nothing better to do.

As you might have heard, came back from Hong Kong on Sunday. Was fun. Probably should elaborate on certain stories that you might have seen at the whole Hong Kong/vacation thread my little brother made in the forums.

For the whole picking up anime DVDs and OSTs for really cheap, if you've ever been to Hong Kong before, you might know of places where you can get them. A friend of mine at Hong Kong ended up taking me and my little bro to Mong Kok. He showed us this anime dvd/ost store which seemed to be selling them for hella cheap prices. I ended up getting the Guilty Gear XX OST and the Metal Gear Solid 3 OST for $140 Hong Kong (which is about $20 US). My little bro picked up the entire Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad series (3 full DVDs, 26 eps) for only $120.

Almost ran into trouble at Mong Kok though as my friend showed us this store that was selling bootleg PC games for dirt cheap. We didn't know the people at the store were undercover customs agents though. They told us that they were customs and asked whether we wanted to buy anything there. We basically hightailed it out of there after that.

About the visit to the red light district, the same friend took us out a different night to hit some of the local arcades at Wan Chai. He usually takes a taxi to them, but we decided to try the subway. Ended up getting hella lost and ended up at the red light district at Wan Chai. You could tell it was the red light district, because everywhere (and I mean EVERYWHERE) you looked you either saw a nightclub or a hooker. And it was pretty obvious that they were nightclubs and hookers too. As I said in my post, nothing ended up happening. One of the people at the door of a nightclub offered us a drink though. It was quite funny.

More on the picture of "Jackie Chan". Me and my little bro went to the Peak. Didn't have a whole lot to do there, but shop or visit the wax museum there. So we visited the wax museum. At the beginning of the tour, my little bro and I were forced (and I mean FORCED) to take a picture with the wax figure of Jackie Chan. It was awkward, but worthwhile, I guess.

Enough is Enough

Just posting to let everybody know I'm still alive and kicking here. Lots has happened since I've last posted. I graduated from my high school in the most brutal graduation ceremony ever. It was in the high 90's and humid as hell. We had to have it outside, we had to wear hot-ass gowns and caps, and we practically had to sit on the pavement. It was terrible. But, I graduated. I'm done. Woohoo.

Speaking of graduation, the webcomic I had to make in order to graduate went a lot better than I thought it would. Seeing as you have to present your projects to random teachers, I was surprised to find that the teachers I presented to were actually interested in the thing. Well, if you want to see it for yourself, I have it hosted here: http://www.gutterflycomix.com/wastedadvantages. No word on whether Phot and I will continue updating the thing afterwards, but it could be possible.

I've also officially started my summer job today. I'm working at the City Clerk's Office again. Also working at the Assessor's Office as well. Gonna be a boring ass summer, but at the end of it, I'll have lots and lots of money, so I can't complain. Going to have to go to my college orientation in 2 weeks. That should be fun. 3 days of just hanging around and learning where junk is. Awesome. Anyways, that's all I have for you right now. I'll be sure to pay more attention to you guys now that school's done. Now, off to play more Sid Meier's Pirates. Arr!

Prophecy

Now Listening to: 36 Crazyfists - Two Months from a Year

I'm going to wildly predict how my APs went. I'll find out what I actually got later on in July. Not that it matters all too much, seeing as I'm already going to college (see last blog entry). But, here goes:

Calculus AB: 2-3 (didn't do so well on this one)

Computer Science A: 1-2 (flat out didn't know what the fuck I was doing on this one)

English Literature: 3-4 (knew what I was doing, but sorta ran out of time to put a few key things on my last essay)

European History: 4-5 (everything except for my last essay, which I still finished, went particularly well)

Anyways, had a senior skip day today. No school. But, I actually did have school, because the school policy is: no after-school activites if you missed all of your classes. Seeing as I needed to go to play rehearsal after school, I was sorta cheated out of a skip day. Didn't have to do that much though seeing as, for most of my classes, there was only a few people actually there or teachers willing to have class.

The whole summer job thing is getting a bit out of hand. I was planning to just hold onto my part-time job at a local golf club. It would involve me doing golf things, like driving the golf carts around, picking up golf balls off the driving range, etc. I even already offered to work there. But, the old full-time job at City Hall I had last summer just popped up again, which pays slightly better than the other one. So, I'm in quite a pickle. And pickle suck ass. Parents are suggesting me to work at my old job and work at the golf club on the weekends. Not sure how my new boss will like that idea. Probably gonna end up getting fired. -_-;

Oh well, shit happens. Gonna have to work my way through it. Better go write the 3 essays I owe my hella strict English teacher that I was supposed to hand in last week while I was taking my APs. -_-;

By the way, 11 days of school left for me.
